One area of fish keeping often neglected is aquarium lighting. Effective lighting not only enables you to view the contents, but it also enhances the colour of fish, plants and invertebrates. Inappropriate aquarium lighting may not only have a direct effect on the welfare of plants and corals, but may also impact the health of fish.
The health of many species is directly related to the quality and quantity of light they receive. They use the energy from lighting as a means of powering photosynthesis on which their health depends. Those that concern us most are the microscopic symbiotic algae, or zooxanthellae, which inhabit the tissues of many marine corals, and the tropical aquatic plants that we grow in our freshwater aquariums.

aqualine 16000
A blue/white full spectrum metal halide lamp for marine aquaria.
The aqualine 16000 lamp simulates the light spectrum in deeper waters. It is best used in combination with aqualine 10000, but as it is a full spectrum lamp it can also be used as the sole light source, if a high percentage of blue light is required. In these circumstances, there is no need for blue fluorescent lamps and the effluorescing colours of the corals are enhanced.

aquastarlight T5
The aquastarlight T5 luminaire is designed to accomodate the new T5 fluorescent lamps. The luminaire is extruded from salt water resistant aluminium and powder coated. It contains four T5 fluorescent lamps. T5 lamps are much smaller and more efficient than standard lamps (T8). Their diameter is only 16 mm and they are much shorter than T8 lamps of the same wattage. In addition, they have a higher operating temperature (25°C).
The aquastarlight T5 is supplied with high frequency electronic ballasts giving completely flicker free light. These features make them ideal fluorescent lamps for lighting aquariums and terrariums.
The aquastarlight T5 luminaire is available in three sizes:
90cm (c. 36”) for 4 x 39 watt lamps
120 cm (c. 48”) for 4 x 54 watt lamps
150 cm (c. 60”) for 4 x 80 watt lamps

Aquarium Luminaire for metal halide lamps
The luminaires in the Ocean Light series bring the intensity and sparkle of metal halide lighting into your aquarium at a very economic price.
Of course, there is no compromise in the known Aqua Medic quality:

aquasunlight – the new generation
The new aquasunlight combines all the benefits of metal halide lamps with the technology of the new T5 fluorescent lamps. This symbiosis merges the advantages of both systems.
Of course, the fixture is made of saltwater resistant powder coated aluminium and supplied with high purity aluminium reflectors. For long term reliability the electronic components are all manufactured by the leading European manufacturers.
As an option high frequency electronic ballasts can be supplied for the metal halide circuits.
aquasunlight is manufactured in lengths from 60 cm to 180 cm. Depending on the length it can be supplied with
between 1 and 4 metal halide lamps (aqualine 10000, 13000ºK, 70 – 250 watt, aqualine 20000, blue, 70 – 250
watt) and 2 or 4 T5 fluorescent tubes ( aqualine T5 Reef blue and aqualine T5 Reef white ) of 24 – 80 watts.
As a further option, the luminaire can be supplied with blue LED moonlight lamps.

These fixtures are not only incredibly attractive but also incorporate an incredibly designed and engineered housing that directs maximum lighting into your aquarium.
