Pond pumps come in a range of sizes. They also come low voltage (runs from a transformer) 24  volt pumps and 240 volt pumps. Low voltage pumps are safer so if the power cord gets cut or something happens to damage the resin casing that protects the electric coil of the motor you can not be electrocuted. Most people use 240 volt pumps as they tend to be stronger in water flow and head height. When using 240 volt pond pumps always make sure they are used with a safety cut out switch. As pond pumps are generaly outside in garden environments it is easy for someone to be trimming plants or digging around the pond area and accidentley cut the power cord. Pond pumps come with 3 fountain sprays a t-piece to split water up to a water feature and 10 meter power cable.

All pumps have a impeller inside them which needs to be cleaned periodicly. The impeller is also replacable.

It is also advisable to use a larger pre filter on your pump than supplied to help deadbre for wearing you impeller to help with longevity of your pump.
